An interactive whiteboard teaching resource for demonstrating isometric shapes. Designed to enable classroom discussion about the number of small cubes in each shape.
After discussing the shape it can be exploded to show its components. It can also be toggled to rotate. There are 7 isometric shapes to consider.

This resource complements Isometric Shape Draw another resource on this site.
As with all of the resources that utilise 3D on this site slower computers may glitch. Better performance may be found with Internet Explorer rather than other browsers as it seems to have better Flash Player integration. Rotation is most likely to cause problems so limiting use of this may also help.
Comments and suggestions are welcome as always.

Use this teaching resource to create maps quickly and easily for your own purpose. The maps can be printed to hand out to students. The maps can be saved to your computer and re-loaded to use to demonstrate points on the interactive whiteboard. An on screen ruler can be toggled on or off.
The traditional map has self orienting roads for speed and ease of use. It has 4 figure grid references.
There are two versions of the treasure map. The first uses 4 figure grid references. The second uses letters and numbers for grid references.
A set of printable resources to accompany this interactive whiteboard resource can also be downloaded and contain a printable grid and cut out and stick map symbols to match the resources.
The resources are very recently completed so if any bugs or errors are found please let me know. Similarly if you have any suggestions to make them more useful please comment.

Use this teaching resource to demonstrate the representation of 3D shapes using isometric paper.
The top half of the screen displays a variety of shapes that can be rotated.
The bottom half of the screen contains an interactive isometric grid. Clicking on one dot and then another connects them with a red line. Clicking on the line removes it. The rotating shapes include use of perspective demonstrating that the isometric drawing is only a representation of the 3D shape.
Update: There was a bug in this where constant rotations knocked the shapes out of isometric perspective. This is now fixed.

An interactive whiteboard resource for facilitating discussion on 2d shape properties. Scratch the panels to uncover sections of the shape then think about what the revelaed section shows.
Inspired by the fact that students seem to love “wiping” the interactive whiteboard. A set of shapes are obscured by a scratchcard. Either direct the student to a suitable square or let them choose. They can scratch off the covering and reveal part of the shape underneath. A discussion about shape properties can then be had.
The instructions include a key to the shape numbers and which part of the grid covers which part of the shape.
Flash Player 9 required.

This teaching and learning resource presents you with a virtual mirror to use on your interactive whiteboard. Drag the on-screen mirror to reflect the different pictures and diagrams. Demonstrate what reflective symmetry is and where the reflection lines are on a number of shapes.
Use your interactive whiteboard instead of trying to use a real mirror in front of a class.

Similar to the last resource. Teach transformations in your maths lesson using this “virtual” tracing paper. Demonstrate the use of tracing paper in the use of certain transformations in your maths lessons. Using “virtual” tracing paper you can show the methods using an interactive whiteboard. The downside is a more complex interface. You will need to move the paper out of the way to move the shapes.
