To use an angle measurer place the cross over the point where the 2 lines meet or cross.

Decide whether the angle is acute (less than 90°) or obtuse more than 90°.

Rotate the measurer until one of the lines goes through 0 on the scale. Then find where the on the scale the other line crosses.

Use the scale that has the number that is appropriate for the type of angle you have identified.
